Privacy Policy

Controller

Investment Calculator (investment-calculator.net) is operated by Gianni Van Schoor, based in Haaltert, Belgium, acting as the data controller. The site is currently run by a private individual: there is no registered company or enterprise (VAT) number yet. As soon as the activity is registered as a business, the enterprise number will be added here, as required by Article XII.6 of the Belgian Code of Economic Law. Scope

This policy applies to the website, the calculators, the optional account features, and any contact you have with us. It does not apply to external websites we link to.

Data We Collect

• Account data, only if you sign in: your email address (via magic link or Google sign-in), a display name, and an account setting that hides ads. Accounts are optional.
• Saved favorites, only if you use them: the calculator inputs you choose to save. We never store your calculation results.
• Feedback messages, only if you use the feedback form on your account page: the message content and a verification token from hCaptcha to block automated abuse.
• Usage data (pages visited, approximate device and browser information, timestamps) via Google Analytics, only if you consent to analytics cookies.
• Your cookie consent choices, stored in your browser.
• IP addresses in server logs, kept temporarily for security and abuse prevention.
• The content of your message if you email us.
• Donations, only if you choose to donate: payments are processed entirely by Ko-fi and its payment provider Stripe. We never receive or store your payment details.

Sources

We collect data directly from you (account sign-in, saved favorites, feedback, email), automatically (server logs and, with your consent, analytics), and from our service providers (for example Google sign-in passes us your email address when you use it).

Purposes and Legal Bases

• Providing the account features, saved favorites, and feedback handling: performance of the agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• Site operation, security, server logs, and abuse prevention: our legitimate interest in running a safe and reliable service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
• Analytics and usage measurement: your consent, given via the cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
• Advertising, personalized or non-personalized, via Google AdSense and its partners: your consent, given via the cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
• Responding to your messages: our legitimate interest or, where applicable, taking steps at your request (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

Cookies and Tracking

We use Google Funding Choices (CMP ID: 300) under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework to collect your consent. Strictly necessary cookies always run. Analytics and advertising cookies only run if you consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time. See the Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies and storage periods.

Recipients and Processors

• Hostinger: web hosting of the static website.
• Supabase: authentication and database for accounts, profiles, and saved favorites, protected with row-level security.
• Google: sign-in (OAuth, only if you use it), Google Analytics (only with consent), Google AdSense and Funding Choices (advertising and consent management).
• hCaptcha (Intuition Machines): verification of the feedback form, only when you submit feedback.
• Ko-fi and Stripe: donation processing, only if you donate.
• We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with other parties unless required by law.

International Transfers

Some providers (for example Google, hCaptcha, Ko-fi) may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Data Retention

• Server logs: up to 12 months.
• Google Analytics data: up to 14 months.
• Account data and saved favorites: until you delete them. You can delete your account yourself on your account page, or ask us by email.
• Feedback and email correspondence: only as long as needed for follow-up or legal obligations.
• Cookie consent records: see the Cookie Policy.

Security

We use access controls, encryption in transit (HTTPS), and row-level security in the database to protect your data. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability, and you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. Automated Decision-Making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects for you. Ad personalization only happens if you consent, and you can refuse it while still using the full site.

Additional Rights Outside the EEA

Depending on your location (for example the United States), you may have additional privacy rights. We handle all requests in line with the law that applies to you.

Children

The service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the site or legislation changes. The date below always shows the latest revision. For significant changes we will draw attention to the update on the site.
