Months, weeks and leap years
Age = Target date − Birth date. We use calendar-based calculations: if needed, days are borrowed from the previous month before normalizing months and years. Days are counted as full calendar days between both dates.
Why this is useful
Precise year–month–day breakdown
We first compare calendar days. If the target day occurs earlier in the month than the birth day, we borrow the exact number of days from the previous month and then normalize months and years. This matches how people naturally describe age.
Totals such as weeks, hours, minutes and seconds are based on the total number of days between the two dates, using 24-hour days. Leap years are included automatically.
